Nije bilo mesta za bojazan da Liverpul neće stići da se oporavi posle dve utakmice na Mundijalu u Kataru preko kojih se prvi put domogao trona svetskog klupskog prvaka. “Redsi” su poveli u 31. minutu golom Brazilca Roberta Firmina, tvorca te krune, a od 71. do 78. minuta su zapečatili sudbinu Lestera koji se potajno nadao. Sledeća tri pogotka dali su Džejms Milner iz penala (71), opet Firmino (74) i  Aleksander Arnold (78).

Drugi Firminov gol bio je 500. Liverpulov u svim takmičenjima od kada ga vodi nemački trener Jirgen Klop (8. oktobar 2015).

Lids je imao 34 takva meča (1968-69), Čelzi 40 (2004-05), Notingem Forest 42 (1977-78), a Arsenal 49 (2003-04).

Liverpul ima 52 boda, Lester 39, a prvak Mančester siti 38 i utakmicu manje koju igra u petak (20.45 časova) kao gost Vulverhemptona.

There had been other chances in behind a Leicester back-line that was dropping ever deeper. Caglar Soyuncu and Jonny Evans did their best to head and intercept what they could and for the rest there was Kasper Schmeichel forcing Salah wide when he broke through, or getting a hand to a Mane hit from close range. Late in the first half Leicester’s problems were encapsulated in the space of a few seconds, when James Maddison had a rare run with the ball, threw in a step-over and then had possession swiftly pinched by Alexander-Arnold. Maddison would later come off, a yellow card against his name, and a lot of frustration at how things were going for him and his team. Leicester were decisively broken with less than 20 minutes left when an Alexander-Arnold corner struck the hand of Soyuncu who had leaned in towards the ball. Milner dispatched that and then two more goals came swiftly. Firmino initiated the move for his second, moving into the box to score from Alexander-Arnold’s cross.
